Probably built in the 1870s, the Williamsville bridge is thought to be the oldest covered bridge in Windham County and is the last of seven covered bridges that once stood in Newfane. After inspectors found it could no longer safely carry emergency vehicles, the town chose reconstruction over a modern span: the old bridge was taken down in July 2010 and a replacement placed over the Rock River the following month. Some sources attribute the original to Eugene P. Wheeler, while the National Register nomination lists the builder as unknown.
