π Willard Twin Covered Bridge
Hartland, VT Β· built 2001
Photo: Gianina Lindsey via Wikimedia Commons (CC BY 2.0)The western Willard Twin was built in 2001, a few yards from the historic 1870 Willard bridge, with a small island between the two crossings of the Ottauquechee. There have always been two bridges at this site: the first western bridge, from about 1872, was lost in the hurricane of September 1938, its 1938 replacement lasted until it deteriorated and was replaced by the present bridge in 2001. The year at its roof peak marks its current construction date, matching the practice on its twin.
