Rockingham, VT Β· built 1872
Photo: Sfoskett via Wikimedia Commons (CC BY-SA 3.0)This bridge began in 1872 as the Depot Bridge in West Townshend, built by Harrison Chamberlin to reach the mills and later the railroad depot across a West River setback. Condemned for the Townshend Dam project, it was dismantled, its timbers marked and stored in a barn, until Vermont Country Store founder Vrest Orton arranged its rebuilding in 1967 at his Rockingham store, shortened to about 44 feet. It is now signed as the store's Kissing Bridge and serves as an entrance and parking link.
