Built by James Tasker, originally over the Black River near Stoughton Pond and named for the Salmond family nearby, this bridge was moved out of the flood-control area in 1959 and spent more than two decades as a town storage shed in Amsden, its floor removed and windows cut into the sides. Townspeople twice voted against sending it to the dump as a recycling shed, raised the money, and in 1986 restored it with an authentic floor system and moved it over Sherman Brook, where a small memorial park was created beside it.
