Also called the Sterling Bridge, the red-painted Red Bridge crosses a scenic bedrock gorge cut by Sterling Brook and is Morristown's only surviving 19th-century covered bridge. Its unknown builder devised an unusual truss combining a kingpost system with a superimposed queenpost system, a design the Vermont Covered Bridge Society describes as unique. Built in 1896, it was among the last covered bridges built in Vermont during the historic construction period, in a corner of town settled as the short-lived town of Sterling. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on October 16, 1974.
