At 266 feet in two spans, this is one of Vermont's longest covered bridges, connecting Lunenburg with Lancaster, New Hampshire, across the Connecticut River. Lancaster and Lunenburg each contributed $2,500 toward its $6,678 cost, with the rest raised by subscription, and the towns have shared its upkeep. In 1969 a loaded salt truck fell through its deck onto the frozen river and had to be hauled off the ice before its spilled salt melted through. Oversize trucks, including one led astray by GPS in 2010, have damaged it several times since.
