Also called the Lower or Fairfax Covered Bridge, this is Fairfax's only surviving historic covered bridge and one of very few two-lane covered bridges in Vermont, built wide to handle village traffic between the village center and Bellows Free Academy. It was built by Kingsbury and Stone in 1865. The great Flood of 1927 lifted it off its foundations, and residents still argue about whether it was set back down backwards.
