Built in 1877 by R.W. and B.H. Pinney, the Lincoln bridge is believed to be the only known surviving wooden example of the Pratt truss, a design far more common in later metal bridges, combined here with laminated arch trusses. The Vermont Agency of Transportation rehabilitated it in 1989, hiding modern strengthening inside the historic fabric and adding skylights to light the long interior. It has also been closed and reopened in recent years after damage from an oversized vehicle.
