This Jewett brothers bridge stands by the former hamlet of Hutchins, which grew up around Joseph Hutchins's butter-tub factory in the mid-1800s. When the factory closed in the early 1900s the hamlet faded and the bridge saw little use and fell into disrepair for a time. It is one of two Jewett bridges, with the Hectorville, that cross the South Branch of the Trout River south of Montgomery Center.
