The Gorham Bridge, which links Pittsford and Proctor across Otter Creek, was built in 1841 by Abraham Owen working with Nicholas M. Powers, who was then Owen's apprentice and at the start of a career that made him Vermont's most famous bridgewright. It is one of the oldest surviving covered bridges in the state, and at the time of its National Register listing it was one of only three Vermont bridges known to survive from Powers's hand. Laminated beams have since been added beneath the deck to strengthen it for modern traffic.
