Built in 1897 by George W. Holmes, the Gates Farm Bridge is the last Burr arch bridge built in Vermont during the historic covered-bridge period and one of only nine surviving Burr trusses in the state. It began as the Little Covered Bridge, carrying Vermont Route 15 a few hundred feet from its present site, and was moved to the Gates farm in 1950 after the Seymour River was diverted and the farm was cut off from its fields. After years of neglect it was taken off its abutments in 1994 and restored in 1995, with its interior clearance raised 18 inches for modern farm equipment. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on November 19, 1974.
