One of Vermont's older covered bridges and one of four surviving 19th-century covered bridges in Pittsford, the Depot Bridge takes its name from the railroad depot that once stood nearby in the Florence section of town. It is unusual among Vermont covered bridges in keeping a heavy slate roof. The bridge was restored in 1974, when its abutments were faced in concrete, and its deck was reinforced with steel stringers in 2006. In 2005 a dump truck that entered with its bed raised tore through the roof; the damage was repaired, slate roof included.
