The Cooley Bridge was built in 1849 by Nicholas M. Powers, who grew up on a farm nearby and became Vermont's best-known covered bridge builder; it is one of the few bridges whose construction by Powers is well documented. Its portals overhang the ends of the short span so strongly that the silhouette is often compared to a Conestoga wagon. Named for the Cooley family that owned land nearby, it is one of four surviving covered bridges in Pittsford. A 2003-2004 rehabilitation replaced very little original timber, and the town insisted the new siding be native hemlock rather than pine.
