Lyndon, VT Β· also known as Chamberlin Mill Covered Bridge Β· built 1881
Photo: Mfwills via Wikimedia Commons (CC BY-SA 3.0)Also called the Chamberlin Mill or Whitcomb bridge, it takes its name from a nearby gristmill, later joined by a sawmill, whose ruins remain near the site. Maps and accounts indicate a bridge has stood here since at least the late 1700s. It is one of Lyndon's five similar surviving bridges, sharing their open upper walls, wide eaves and projecting portals, and its open gable ends give drivers better visibility than most covered spans.
