π Burt Henry Covered Bridge
Bennington, VT Β· built 1840
Photo: John Hoey via Wikimedia Commons (CC BY 2.0)Dating to about 1840 near the historic Henry House in North Bennington, this bridge was once strengthened with doubled trusses for heavy loads, an experiment later reversed. It was completely rebuilt in 1989 using southern pine with ash treenails rather than the usual spruce and oak. Together with the Paper Mill and Silk bridges it forms Bennington's trio of Walloomsac River covered bridges.
