πŸ’¬ Built in 1928 in the great rebuilding after the November 1927 flood destroyed more than 1,200 Vermont bridges, this 202-foot Parker through truss β€” its steel fabricated by Bethlehem Steel β€” carries Winooski Street over the Winooski River between Waterbury and Duxbury. It is one of only two Parker through trusses left on the Winooski River and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006. A covered bridge stood at this crossing around 1890 and a steel truss from 1924; the flood took the truss, and this bridge was the answer. A cantilevered sidewalk lets you walk across it.
