π¬ A life-size bronze of Elizabeth 'Molly' Stark - musket in hand, a child at her side - at the junction of Routes 100 and 9 in Wilmington, on the grounds of the Crafts Inn. Stark (1737-1814), wife of Gen. John Stark and mother of eleven, was his inspiration at the Battle of Bennington on August 16, 1777: 'The enemy are ours, or this night Molly Stark sleeps a widow.' His victory march home followed the path of today's Route 9, recognized in 1936 as the Molly Stark Trail and officially named by Vermont in 1967. Beside the statue, a granite bench honors Betty Wolf, a nurse who served the Deerfield Valley for 56 years.
